Is the Blogosphere the new Inside Edition
Okay, sometimes it's the Downing Street Memo, but more often than not, it's crap like the New Jersey photo. Sure, its a little sleezy, but I'd say this falls in the acceptable, even expected, sleezy range.
Come on, people! If the power of the Internet is so great, how come this is the kind of story we get from our faithful bloggers?

I don't know if the NJ photo is all that sleazy. I imagine that the story never would have made it past the producers at "Inside Edition." Sure, it's political gossip, but what the blogs did here was expose a campaign for (a) using copyrighted photography without permission, (b) Photoshopping together (poorly, mind you) a gang of someone else's supporters with its candidate, and (c) using such a photo to promote its candidate.
At the very least, the blog exposure got the photo removed and provided some due embarrassment to Schundler.
Sure, it's political gossip and it's not always the most worthwhile material, but I think this case actually reinforces my faith in the blogosphere to act as a watchdog -- even if, at times, it's the sort of watchdog employed by Star.
